Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
American culture is at war with the principles of living a godly, victorious life. Millions of people across all social, cultural and economic boundaries merely exist without Christ, without Christian influence. Thankfully, the story is not over!
Thousands of men, women and young people have seen the devastating effect of life without Jesus and have stepped up and committed themselves to secure our mission to bring the gospel to every corner and every hurting heart in America. They understand that we have only ONE mission: that none perish.
It is the goal of U.S. Missions to communicate and connect those who are committed to impact our nation with the only Light that brings salvation. As we move from compassion to action, our missionaries will change the destiny of America, working together to reach America with the gospel so that none perish.
Let’s reach America together!

What's Happening in U.S. Missions
Welcome New Missionary Candidates!
U.S. Missions is happy to welcome 30 new missionary candidates to the
U.S. mission field. September 13-19, 2008, U.S. Missions hosted its Fall Candidate Orientation in Springfield, Mo. Candidate Orientation
is a week-long event of interviews, training, evaluation and
preparation for the emotionally and spiritually trying aspects of
missions work.
The week-long event began over the weekend with two full days of
committee interviews, where candidates were asked to share their
ministry vision and the call God has placed on their lives for their
missionary work. A welcome dinner was held Sunday evening and served as
a relaxing time of fellowship.
Monday began the fund-raising training, the main portion of the
orientation. Candidates also heard from a director from all six
U.S. Missions departments and Youth Alive. The directors shared their vision for their
department and also how the departments work together in bringing the
gospel to America.
An intense first few days of interviews and training led to friendly
competition Tuesday evening when the candidates joined several U.S.
Missions staff members to participate in Survivor. After a pizza
dinner, participants were divided into four teams of fifteen and given various challenges to complete.
The week continued with more fund-raising training and a chance to hear
from U.S. missionary, Jay Covert. Jay shared his itineration
experience and encouraged the new candidates that even though there
will be hard times, it will be worth it in the end.
Fall 2008 Candidate Orientation ended with a Celebration Dinner and
Commissioning Service Friday evening. High above Springfield,
twenty-one stories to be exact, missionary candidates and U.S. Missions
team members celebrated the completed week together over dinner at the
Tower Club. Candidates also received a certificate of commissioning and
a mini statue depicting Jesus washing the disciples’ feet.
The Commissioning Service followed the dinner and was held in the
Assemblies of God Theological Seminary chapel. Dr. Winston Larry, U.S. Missions
Administrator, gave a challenging message encouraging candidates in
their call to missions.
After the message each candidate was called to accept a
charge from U.S. Missions Director, Zollie Smith, to serve God and
the Assemblies of God U.S. Missions to the very best of their ability and
live above reproach in every way. The service concluded with a powerful
time of prayer for the candidates. A cake reception was held after the
service.
